Obituary of the late Mrs. Hilda Kroese
Mrs. Chas. Kroese, nee Hilda Brouwer was born in the Netherlands June 19, 1879. At the age of seven years she came to the United States and resided at Orange City Iowa where she grew up and was joined in marriage to Chas. Kroese on September 4, 1896.

After a residence of 9 Years at Hornick Ia, the family moved to the Hull vicinity in 1907, where they engaged in farming until 1934. Since then they have resided in Hull. May 10, 1938 her husband was taken from her side, after a marriage of 42 years. To this union six sons and six daughters were born.

In the early morning of October 4, the Lord took her away in her sleep having attained the age of 76 years, 3 months and 14 days.

In addition to her husband, three brothers, 3 sisters and 1 grand daughter preceded her in death. She is survived by 12 children: Joe and John of Hull, Jessie, Mrs. Peter Steinstra, Redlands CA; Peter of Hull; Ivan of Orange City; William; Gertrude, Mrs. John H. Van Otterloo, Hull; Nellie at home; Evelyn, Mrs. Evelyn Marr; Wilma Mrs. John Miersma, Hull; Anna, Mrs. Louis H. Wielenga Boyden; Chas Jr of Hull; (3?) grandchildren; 29 great grand children; two half brothers, Neal Brouwer and John Brouwer of Orange City and two step sisters, Mrs. A. Vander Veen of Hawarden, Mrs. L Maas Ireton; and Many more distant relatives.

Funeral services were held October 7 at 1 oclock at the home and 1:30 at the Chr Ref. Chruch with Rev. H. C. Van Deelen officiating. A male quartet composed of Geradl Kroese, Chas. Stienstra, Albert J. Kroese and Warren Marra, grandsons of the departed one, sand the hymn Beyond the sunset.

Five grandsons were pall bearers. Interment was made in Hope Cemetery with the arrangements made by the Funeral directors Van Etten and Kraai.
