Henry Van Zee, 90, of Rock Valley died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 in Rock Valley.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Zee was born April 3, 1911, in Rock Valley, the son of Conrad and Leana (VerDoorn) Van Zee. He worked at his father's Rock Valley Cement Block and Tile Company and became owner of the company in 1944. He married Jean Koele on March 9, 1937, in Hull, Iowa. She died June 10, 1996. He continued as manager/part owner of RV Cement Block and Tile until his retirement in 1974 when he sold the business to his sons.

Henry and Jean enjoyed their summers at Lake Okoboji. He was the last of the original 10 owners of Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Survivors include two sons, and their wives, Dick and Deanne Van Zee of Rock Valley, and Conrad and Orlene Van Zee of Okoboji, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Jean Marie and Roger Ranschau of Inwood, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister and her husband, Evalena and Moss Van Holland of Chino, California.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Richard Van Zee; three sisters, Artie Ver Mulm, Emma Vander Bok, and Henrietta Demsey; and two great-grandchildren.
