Jeanette (Green) Steensma, 82, Sanborn, Iowa, formerly of Ireton, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003. Funeral services were at Cornerstone United Reformed Church in Sanborn on Sept. 27, the Rev. Jacques Roets officiating. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn.

Jeanette was born April 12, 1921 at Ireton, the daughter of John and Jennie (Zwiep) Green. Jeanette lived her youth and received her education at Ireton, graduating from the Ireton High School in 1939. Prior to her marriage, Jeanette worked in her father's bakery.

Jeanette was united in marriage to Henry J. Steensma on August 28, 1952, at Ireton. Following the marriage they lived near Sanborn and then moved to Artesia, Calif. where they resided for eight years. They then moved to Ripon, CA. and were there for 24 years, Hank and Jeanette later moved to Wenatchee, Washington for 10 years, and returned to make their home in Sanborn, Iowa in 1999.

Jeanette was a member of the Cornerstone United Reformed Church of Sanborn where she participated in the Ladies Bible Study. She was also a member of the Prairie View Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Henry of Sanborn; her children, Gregg Steensma of Ripon, and Randy Steensma of Wenatchee, WA; five grandchildren; one sister, Marie De Jong of Artesia, California.
