Vivian Viola Van Zee, 84, Hospers, died Wednesday, August 18, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today (Saturday August 21) at the First Reformed Church in Hospers, with the Rev. Brian Jansen officiating. Burial will be at Hospers Cemetery, under the direction of Sanborn Funeral Home.

Vivian Van Zee, daughter of Benjamin and Fannie (Beltman) Te Grotenhuis, was born Oct. 19, 1919, in Newkirk, where she lived her youth and received her education.

She married Anthony "Spike" Van Zee on April 14, 1939, in Newkirk. Most of their married life was spent in Hospers. She was the head cook for 30 years for the Floyd Valley Community School and cooked for 10 summers at Camp Foster Y.M.C.A. in Okoboji.

She was a member of First Reformed Church in Hospers, where she sang in the choir for many years. Special interests of hers included knitting, tatting, and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, Anthony "Spike" Van Zee of Hospers; three children, Dennis and Carrie Van Zee of Sioux Falls, S.D, Linda and Jim Stanley of Wilmington, NC. and Beverly and Arlin Vander Wilt of Blossom, TX; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren;three step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a step great-grandson; and two sisters, Evangeline Wilkens of Clara City, MN, and Audrey Van Klompenberg of Marshall, MN.

She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Cornie Wilkens and John Van Klompenberg.
