John Uittenbogaard, 81, of Sheldon and formerly of Hospers, died Thursday, September 6, 1990 in the Sheldon Hospital.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 8, in the Presbyterian Church in Hospers. The Rev. Brian Janssen officiated. Burial was in the East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon, under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, Sheldon.

Mr. Uittenbogaard was born March 22, 1909 in Boyden, the son of Harry and Minnie (Jansma) Uittenbogaard. He married Lois Den Beste May 27, 1939 in Sheldon. He was a farmer and also owned and operated a sand and gravel business in Hospers for 25 years.

Mr. Uittenbogaard was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Hospers where he served as an elder and deacon.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Kerry (Elaine) Tutt of Chesapeake, Ohio; a son, Roger and his wife, Suzanne of Haddonfield, New Jersey; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Ann) Ekdahl of Saugatuck, Michigan, Mrs. Minnie Martin of Booneville, Mo., and Mrs. Kenneth (Phyllis) Snyder of Spirit Lake; three brothers, Harry of Brooksville, Florida, Adrain of Chicago and Donald of Jacksonville, Florida; a grandson, Jeff Tutt; and three step grandchildren, Peter, Linda and Andrew Spragg.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Smith and four brothers, Art, Frank, Bert and Vernon.
