Eunice VanDer Wilt, 54, of rural Orange City died Wednesday, April 19, 1990 in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 21 in Free Grace Reformed Church of Middleburg with the Rev. Jeffrey Taylor officiating. Burial was in Capel Township Cemetery near Middleburg. Visitation was held at the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mrs. VanDer Wilt, the former Eunice Jouwstra, was born July 24, 1935, in Hull and was raised in the Hull-Rock Valley area. She graduated from Northwestern Junior College in Orange City and then taught at Hull Public Elementary School for two years. On June 14, 1957, she married Gerrit "Gary" VanDer Wilt at Rock Valley. They lived on the VanDer Wilt family farm near Middleburg.

Mrs. VanDer Wilt was a member of Free Grace Reformed Church where she was active in women's organizations, holding several offices on the local and classical level. For many years she taught Sunday school and catechism classes and sang in the church choirs.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Lori and her husband, Harv Punt of Hull; Evonne and her husband, Gary Blankers of Sioux City and Sharla VanDer Wilt of Orange City and her fiancé, Dr. Jim Clemens; a son, Franklin of Orange City and his fiancée, Beth Van Meeteren; five grandchildren, Heidi and Nathan Punt, Andrea Blankers, Paul and Rachel Clemens; her parents, Evert "Ed" and Henrietta Jouwstra of Rock Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Thelma) Haverdink of Orange City; Mrs. James (Wilma) Humme of Rock Valley and Mrs. Mohummed (Fran) Sadden of Sioux City; and a brother, Evert Jouwstra of Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Gaylin.
