Sioux County Capital, May 14, 1987

Mrs. Eva Van Der Wilt, 79, of Orange City passed away Thursday, May 7 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital after a short illness.

Eva was born April 24, 1908 at Middleburg, the daughter of Johannes Van Oort and Anna Baartman Van Oort. On Jan. 28, 1930, she married Frank Van Der Wilt at Middleburg. They farmed near Middleburg until 1957 when they moved to Orange City. Mr. Van Der Wilt passed away April 4, 1972 at Sioux City.

Mrs. Van Der Wilt was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City and the church's Lydia Circle.

Survivors include her son, Gary of Middleburg; three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Ann) Boote of Orange City; Mrs. Jim (Marvella) Van Klompenburg of Sioux City; and Mrs. Bob (Hermina) La Point of Fort Collins, CO; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four brothers and sisters: Henry Van Oort of Doon; Mrs. Gerrit (Winnie) Grevengoed of Hull; Peter Van Oort of Sanborn, and Mrs. Lawrence (Mathilda) Wielenga of Sioux Center.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a grandson and a sister, Elizabeth Aardema.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 11, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Cecil Martens officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
