Sioux County Capital, September 3, 1992

Clifford Dean Vander Wilt, 63, of Sheldon, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1992, at the Sheldon hospital after a brief illness.

Services were held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon with the Rev. Kenneth Tenckinck officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Mr. Vander Wilt was born Jan. 23, 1929 in Boyden, the son of Antony & Minnie (Kosters) Vander Wilt. He was raised on a farm in Boyden and attended country school. He graduated from Northwestern Classical Academy in Orange City and attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD. He served with the Armed Forces from 1946-48. On Nov. 10, 1950, he married Delores Rouwenhorst in Boyden. He worked at Farmers Savings Bank in Boyden from 1948-58 and was employed by Rouwenhorst Insurance Agency in Boyden until 1961. He then worked with the Citizens State Bank in Sheldon, retiring in April 1992.

Mr. Vander Wilt was a member of Bethel Reformed Church where he served as deacon, elder and treasurer for many years. He was involved in many civic organizations in Sheldon.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Keith and his wife Beth of Jefferson; Brian and his wife Amy of Buffalo Center, and Dean of Joplin, MO; three granddaughters, Cara, Trish and Heather; a brother, Marvin of Hull; and two sisters, Mrs. Marlo (Muriel) DeJongh of Springfield, MO, and Mrs. Jerome (Marlys) Ten Haken of De Pere, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
