Henry Kreykes, 92, of Sheldon died Thursday, August 2, 2001, at Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Burial was in Eastlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

On February 2, 1934, Henry was united in marriage to Alice De Jong of Hospers, Iowa in Hospers. God blessed them with 67 years of oneness in Christ. They were members of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sheldon, where Henry served as a deacon. He also assisted as a board member of the Sheldon Christian School. Henry truck farmed near Sheldon (location of Immanuel CRC at present). He then began the Bloemendaal Hatcheries, later known as Kreykes Chick and Feed, then the Farmer's Market of Sheldon. Henry was a devoted husband and father.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alice of Sheldon; two daughters and sons-in-law: Bonnie and Grant Van De Brake of Sheldon, Cheri and Max Kuney of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren: Dave and Lora Van De Brake and their children: Shantel and John Oostra and Madeline of Sheldon, Candice and Brian Van Kley and Avery of Sioux Center; Krista Van De Brake and Jill Van De Brake of Sheldon; Deb and John Doornenbal and their children; Robyn, Ashley, Danielle and Kelsey of Sioux Center; Jason Van De Brake and fiancee Amanda Baker pf Orange City; Nicole and Matt Guelich and Collin of Chandler, AZ; Kristen and Kirk Plamondon of Gilbert, AZ, He also enjoyed the faithful companionship of his brother Marcus and Anna Kreykes of Sheldon. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers: Fred, John and Arie; three sisters: Agnes Surfcsum, Harriet Kuiper and infant Hattie.
