Sioux Center News of April 2, 1986

Bernard L. Koob, 67, died Friday, March 28, at his home in Hawarden. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden. The Rev. Edmond Adams officiated. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery. There was a Scripture service Sunday, March 30, at the Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Koob was born April 14, 1918, in Hawarden, where he attended school. He served four years in the Pacific war zone during World War II. He married Donna Marienau on April 30, 1946, in Hawarden. She died July 6, 1983. He was a letter carrier in Hawarden for 10 years and a rural letter carrier for 19 years before retiring in 1978. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and Rural Letter Carriers Association.

The deceased was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of Disabled American Veterans, Post 254 American Legion, and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Peterson and Vicki Leafstedt, both of San Antonio, Texas; one son, Tom Koob of Jefferson, South Dakota; two brothers, John Koob of Mesa, Arizona, and Joe Koob of Hawarden; one sister, Margaret Ristow of Hawarden; and five grandchildren.
