Karen (Murphy) Van Wyhe, 32, of Lubbock, Texas, and formerly of Ireton, died Tuesday in a Lubbock hospital of a brief illness.

Mrs. Van Wyhe was born September 9, 1950, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Orrin Van Wyhe November 29, 1969, at Cedar Rapids. They lived at Ireton, Craig, and moved to Lubbock five years ago.

Mrs. Van Wyhe was a sophomore at Texas Tech University at Lubbock. She worked as a library aid and as a teacher's aid with autistic children. She was a past president of the Paraprofessional Caucus of the Lubbock Independent School District. She also was active in Western Little League.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Peter Murphy and Luke Ryan, both at home, her parents, Raymond and Kathleen Murphy of Cedar Rapids, three brothers, Ron of Minneapolis, and Kerry and Ken, both of Cedar Rapids and four sisters, Kathie Durham of Seattle, Washington, Judy Stickney of Palo Alto, California, Jeannie Swinton of Des Moines and Kelly Murphy of Cedar Rapids.

The memorial service was held Saturday at Resthaven Chapel at Lubbock.

A Memorial fund for Mrs. Van Wyhe's sons has been established at the First National Bank of Lubbock.
