Died: February 28, 1980 Orange City, IowaCharles J. Van Citters, 85, of Orange City, died Thursday, February 28, at the Orange City Hospital.
Services were Monday in Orange City, the Rev. Dr.Calvin J.Rynbrandt of the American Reformed Church of Orange City officiated. Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mr. Van Citters was born April 22, 1894, in Orange City.
He married Wilhelmina "Min" Hiemstra Feb. 14, 1918, at Orange City. He worked for Silent Sioux and in later years operated a tree service, retiring several years ago.
He was a member of the American Reformed Church, a veteran of World War I, and a member of Pressman-Kosters Post 329, American Legion. Except for five years in Alton he spent his entire life in Orange City.
Survivors include the widow, three sons, Gordon of Green Lane, Pa., Dr. Robert of Edmonds, Washington, and David of McKinney, Texas; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, A.C. "Ollie" of Orange City and Adolph of Sault Saint Marie, Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Joe (Cornelia) Ripmeester of Wyoming, Michigan.
