Died: July 6, 1988 Sioux Center, Iowa

Mrs. Emma Van Wyk, age 84, of Hull, passed away Wednesday, July 6, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.

Emma was born October 12, 1903 at Boyden, the daughter of Marinus Verrips and Maggie (Nieuwendorp) Verrips.

On April 2, 1924, she married John P. Van Wyk at Boyden. They farmed south of Hull until 1970 when they retired to town. In 1983 they became residents of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In 1984 they transferred to the Sioux Center Community Nursing Home. Mr. Van Wyk passed away May 26, 1986 at Sioux Center.

Mrs. Van Wyk was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hull where in earlier years she had been active in the women's organizations.

Survivors include her four children, Mrs. Clarence (Gladys) Greving of Alton, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Van Wyk of Orange, California, Mrs. James (Erma Jean) Van Roekel of Pella, and Norman Van Wyk of Morgan Hill, California, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 9, at the First Reformed Church of Hull. The Rev. Henry J. Vermeer and Daniel Van Houten officiated. Interment followed at Hope Cemetery in Hull under the direction of the Kraai-Oolman Funeral Home of Hull.
