Funeral services were held last week Saturday afternoon in the First Reformed Church for Edward Van Gelder, who passed away Wednesday evening, June 26 at the Orange City hospital. Ronald Sikkema officiated.

Interment was made in the Orange City cemetery in charge of the Van Etten Funeral Service.

Mr. Van Gelder was born September 22, 1893 to Mr. & Mrs. John Van Gelder of Orange City. He married Jennie Veenstra, Aug. 21, 1923. The family farmed near Melvin, Ridder, Carnes and moved to a farm west of Orange City about 11 years ago where they resided at the time of his death.

Survivors are his widow and seven sons and daughters, James of Alton, Dick of Glenwood City, WI; Wilbur of LeMars; Irene (Mrs. Ben Schiebout); Joyce (Mrs. John Te Brink) and John of Orange City; Kathleen (Mrs. Gordon Van Wyhe) of Ireton; 21 grandchildren, one brother, John of Oklahoma City, OK; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Vermeer of Grand Haven, MI; and Mrs. Dena Stip of Madison, SD.

The parents and one sister preceded in death many years ago.
