Henrietta Vollink, 78, of Hull, died on Tuesday, June 13, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Funeral services were at First Reformed Church in Hull on Friday, June 16, the Rev. Harold Lenters of Sioux Center officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.
Vollink was born on June 19, 1916, in The Netherlands, the daughter of Gerrit John & Cornelia (Magre) Engeltjes. At the age of three, she came to the United States with her family. They settled in the Hull area, where she was raised.
On November 16, 1938 she married Fred Vollink at Ireton. They lived at various locations in Northwest Iowa and Southwest Minnesota. About 1951, they moved to Hull. Her husband died on May 19, 1987, in Sioux Falls.
On May 26 of this year, Mrs. Vollink became a resident of Pleasant Acres.
"Hattie" was a member of First Reformed Church and was also active in the Foster Grandparents program at River Valley School in Rock Valley.
Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Corrine and Robert Van't Hul of Hull; six sons and their wives, Tunis & Frances, Harlan & Carol, Gary & Deborah, Harold & Gail, and Veryl & Lena, all of Hull, and Fred & Glenda of LeMars; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lewis Engeltjes of Sheldon, Bernard Engeltjes of Ireton and Andrew Engeltjes of Orange City; and five sisters, Bertha Franken, Grace Van Roekel and Marie Fedders, all of Sioux Center, Fannie Van Dieren of Ireton and Nellie Meyer of Sheldon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter and two brothers, Henry Engeltjes and another Bernard Engeltjes, in infancy.
