Magdalene "Lena" Kooreman, 99, of Orange City, died Friday, September 25 in a nursing home at Orange City. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Van Gelder Funeral Home at Orange City. The Rev, Ray Tilstra officiated. Burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton. Family visitation was from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Kooreman, the former Magdalene Stronks, was born April 26, 1882, at Cedar Grove, Wis. She married William Kooreman Oct. 18,1906, at Baldwin, Wis, He died Aug. 2, 1951. They lived in the Alton area for many years. She entered the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City in 1974.

She was a member of the Alton Reformed Church where she was former organist and Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of the Ladies Society of the church and the Alton Library Board.

Survivors include one son John of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Pelto of Waite Park, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Florence Engetrand of Minneapolis; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
