MRS. R. KOOI PASSED AWAY ATHER HOME FEB. 13TH
Was 66 Years Old and a Long Time Resident of Garfield Township Leaves Eight Children
Mrs. R. Kooi, long time resident of Garfield township, died at her home there about 6:30 Wednesday morning, Feb 13th. Mrs. Kooi had been in failing health for about two years and was bedfast for about two months preceding her death which resulted from hardening of the arteries.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon, at 1:30 at the home and 2 o'clock at the Christian Reformed church at Lebanon, with Rev. Gritters of Rock Valley in charge. Interment was made in the Lebanon cemetery.

Clara Kastein was born in The Netherlands Feb. 15, 1869, and died just two days before her 66th birthday. She came to America with her parents when a small child and they located first in Wisconsin. She was 13 years old the family moved to Sioux county and located on a farm near Sioux Center where she grew to young womanhood and where she was united in marriage with Remko Kooi about 46 years ago. Immediately following their marriage they moved to a farm in Garfield township and she continued to reside there until her death.

Mr. Kooi became one of Garfield township's most successful farmers and live stock feeders. He passed away Oct. 31, 1924. Mrs. Kooi was a charter member of the Christian Reformed church at Lebanon.

Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kooi, eight of whom survive her, one son, Peter, and one daughter, Dreaka, having preceded her in death The children are: Mrs. P. J. Haverhals, __(one line is not legible_____Vander Lugt, John Kooi, George Kooi, Ellis Kooi and Mrs. Adrian Haverhals, all residing in Sioux County, northeast of Hawarden. She is also survived by one brother, Ralph Kastein of Doon, Iowa, and four sisters, Mrs. Steve Campagne of Sioux Center, Mrs. Martin Niemeyer of Hull, Mrs. John Kleyn of Rock Valley, and Mrs. Teunis Intveld of Lynden, Wash. Her death is also mourned by forty grandchildren
