Jake Koolbeck, 63, passed away at the hospital at Mason City Wednesday morning, June 5, after being ill with cancer since the early part of March. Funeral services will be held Friday at the Garner Methodist church with Rev. Wertz officiating.

Survivors include the widow, the former Elsie Juffer, a daughter (Mrs. Rev. John Peck) of Falls City, Neb., a son, Richard, of Belmond; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Herman Moret of Orange City, and Mrs, Sylvester Rensink of Boyden and a half-brother, Kenneth. Mr. Koolbeck formerly operated a meat market here (now Heemstra's Meat Market) for 10 years— from 1935 to 1945— and left Sioux Center about 17 years ago.
