Fay Kooistra, 99, of Hull died Saturday, September 30, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. Memorial services were 2 p,m. Tuesday at First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Interment was in Hope Cemetery at Hull.

Mrs. Kooistra was born June 8, 1907, at Tangier, Indiana, the daughter of Harry A. and Nancy K. (Gilkerson) Thompson. She was raised in Indiana, where she graduated from high school. In 1929, she married Bert Vande Stouwe.

They made their home in Hull, where she was a homemaker. In November of 1948, he died in Hull. On January 16, 1950, she married Martin Kooistra in Omaha, Nebraska. They continued to live in Hull. He died on July 6, 1992, in Rock Valley. On March 25, 1997, she became a resident of Pleasant Acres.

She was a member of First Reformed Church, where she participated in all the women's activities, including serving as president of the guild. She enjoyed quilting, baking, fishing and watching baseball games on television.

Survivors include five children, Harry Bert Vande Stouwe of Hull, Ned Vande Stouwe and his wife, Jane of Grinnell, Nancy Lammers of Sioux Center, Wendel Kooistra and his wife Mary of Grinnell and Wallace Kooistra and his wife Cindy of Sioux Falls; a daughter-in-law, Fayma Vande Stouwe of-Fort Dodge; a son-inlaw, Richard Paulson of Fountain Hills, Arizona; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother and his wife, Marcus arid Helen Thompson of Lafayette, Indiana.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Vande Stouwe; a daughter, Marian Paulsen; a daughter- in-law, Esther Vande Stouwe; a son-in-law, Stanley, Lammers; a grandson, Bret Lammers; a brother, Hoy Thompson; and a sister, Retha Livingood. Memorials may be directed to the church.
