Fannie Kooistra, 76 of Rock Valley, died Saturday in the Rock Valley hospital after a long illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley. The Rev. Robert Timmer and the Rev. Fred Gunnink officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery under direction of the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Kooistra, the former Fannie Kempema, was born May. 22, 1909 in Rock Valley. She married John Kooistra Feb. 6, 1928 in Canton, S.D. They lived most of their married life in Rock Valley where he operated the Rock Valley Advertiser for 20 years, retiring in 1971. He died Nov. 3, 1976.

Mrs. Kooistra was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and an 11-year member of the Foster Grandparent Organization.

Survivors include four sons, John M. of Allendale, Mich., Kenneth E. of Sioux Center and Orville R. and Erwin G., both of Rock Valley; a daughter, Mrs. John (Mary) Van Zanten of Rock Valley; four brothers, Charlie, Ernest, John and Herman, all of Rock Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Martin (Jennie) Kooistra of Inwood, Mrs. Pete (Freda) Groeneweg of Hull and Mrs. John (Jeanette) Van Maanen of Rock Valley; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
