MRS. EDWIN KOOIKER
Mrs. Edwin Kooiker, 61, of Anaheim, Calif, died June 11, at City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, Calif, after a lingering illness. Rev. John De Jong officiated at the funeral service on Monday, June 14. Mrs. Kooiker was born Oct. 23, 1920 near Sioux Center to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bartels. Pearl attended country schools and graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1938. She married Edwin Kooiker of Hull on March 11, 1940. Later that year they moved to California.

She continued her education there and received her teaching credentials from Long Beach State College. She taught regular elementary classes and then became a reading specialist until she retired last year due to illness.

Pearl is survived by her husband, two children, Arlynn and Cheryl Christensen and four grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers also survive.
