Birth: January 5, 1917 Death: December 6,2000 Elizabeth Kooiman, age 83, of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, December 6,2000 at Avera McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls, SD. Family visitation was held Friday evening at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. Funeral Service was held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiated.

Elizabeth was born January 5, 1917 at Lebanon, IA, daughter of W.C. and Dena (Vugteveen) Kooiman. The family moved to Rock Valley in 1920. Elizabeth worked at her father's grocery stores in Rock Valley and Orange City, IA for many years. Elizabeth also did a lot of hand work through the years such as knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also gave private piano lessons for many years.

Surviving relatives include one brother, Cornie Kooiman of Rock Valley; two sisters: Grace Voetberg, and Jennie and her husband, Marinus Maassen, all of Rock Valley; sister in law, Marian Kooiman of Seminole, Florida; nephews and nieces She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Herman "Doc" Kooiman; and infant sister, Pearl.
