Anna C. Kooima, age 83, of Rock Valley, died Monday, August 9, 1993, at the Hegg Memorial Hospital at Rock Valley. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 1993 at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Rev. Roger Sparks will be officiating. Visitation will begin noon Tuesday with the family present 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.

Anna was born December 9, 1909 at Hancock, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Minnie (Van Heukelom) Kooistra. Anna married Charles Kooima December 27,1929 in Sioux County, fowa. Together they lived near Rock Valley until moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan 1940. They moved back to Rock Valley in 1946 where they started Kooima Machine Works. Charles died June 17,1966.

Surviving relatives include two sons and their wives, Jack and Dolly Kooima of Okohoji, Iowa, John- and Helen Kooima of Rock Valley, IA; two daughters and their husbands, Wilma and Comie Van Zanten of Rock Valley, IA, Leona and Lee Aardema of Granville, Michigan; two brothers, Martin Kooistra of Inwood, IA, Gerrit Kooisira of Rock Valley, IA; two sisters, Henrietta Mulder of Rock Valley, IA, Mrs. Richard (Nellie) Voortman of Visalia, California; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; two year old daughter, Frances; daughter, Judy Lylle; brothers, John, Sam and Elmer Kooistra; sister, Lena De Ruyter; grandsons, Larry and Randy Van Zanten.
