Dora Kooima, 77, of Rock Valley died Wednesday, October 12, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Mike Van Hamersveld officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Mrs. Kooima was born June 30, 1928, near Rock Valley, the daughter of John and Bertha (Enema) Van Holland. She married Kenneth Kooima on October 13, 1948, in Inwood. They lived near Inwood until moving to Rock Valley in 1959. She worked for Valley Manor, where she was a supervisor of the Candy Striper program and an aide for 11 years. She later worked for Sioux County Home Health Care. Her husband died August 31, 2004. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and RV Senior Citizens Club. She and her husband were honorary co-chairpersons for the 2004 Relay for Life.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Kooima of Marshalltown; a daughter, Jan (Ron) Siemonsma of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; brothers, Gerrit (Jeanette) Van Holland of McMinnville, Oregon, Dick (Mary) Van Holland of Norman, Oklahoma, and John (Darlene) Van Holland and Tom (Marlene) Van Holland, all of Rock Valley; sisters, Gerti (Dick) Boeve and Mina (Dr. Ed) Kragt, all of Rock Valley; and seven grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Tina Van Kekerix; and a younger brother, Enno Van Holland.
