Memorial services for Dr. A. G. Korver, age 74, of Sheldon IA, who passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2003, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon Iowa, due to complications from his stroke, were Monday January 6, 2003 at 11:00 a. m. from the United Methodist Church in Sheldon, with the Rev. Emmanuel Dass Officiating. Burial was prior to the service in the East Lawn Cemetery of Sheldon IA.
The Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Arian Garrit Korver, the son of William and Mathilda Muyskens Korver, was born November 28, 1928 near Orange City, Iowa. He received his education from the Academy in Orange City. His under graduate dgree from Westmar College in Le Mars , Iowa in 1951 and his Doctorate of Optometry from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois in 1954. On December 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ruth Vander Berg in Luverne, Minnesota, and the couple made their home in Sheldon, Iowa. Doc practiced Optometry in Sheldon from 1954 until he retired in 1979. His retirement was brief, for in 1980, he opened Korver Eye Care in Sioux City, where he still practiced.

Doc was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon; was active with the Golden Angels, (a vocal group in the church), and with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. He enjoyed singing, taking care of his yard and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

A.G. leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ruth of Sheldon; and their three children, Jayne and her husband, Gary Vander Lee of Hartley, Jim and his wife, Jayne Korver of Sheldon; John and his wife, Connie Korver of Moville, Iowa; six grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer Vander Lee; Jett and Jake Korver; Samantha and Tori Korver; four sisters, Jeneva and her husband, Gene Hofmeyer of Sheldon; Harriet Brouwer of Dexter, Michigan; Gladys and her husband, Dave Vander Berg and Arloa and her husband, Gary Te Stroete all of Sioux Center, Iowa; three brothers, Calvin and his wife, Angeline Korver of Alton, Iowa; Rev. Harold and his wife, Shirley Korver of Paramount, California; Bill and his wife, Frances Korver of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law Rev. Arie Brouwer, and two nieces
