Fannie Tilstra, 89, of Luverne died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 1989 in a hospital in Luverne, Minn.

Services were held Saturday in the American Reformed Church in Luverne with the Rev. Gordon Bloemendaal officiating. Burial in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids, Iowa under the direction of Engebretson Funeral Home of Luverne.

Mrs. Tilstra, the former Fannie Hommes, was born April 13, 1900, in Kopstukken of John Sr. and Fenna (Timmer) Hommes. She came to the United States in 1903 and grew up in Sioux County, Iowa. She moved with her family to Rock Rapids in 1920. On February 7, 1923, she married Cornelius Tilstra in Rock Rapids. The couple farmed in the Rock Rapids area until 1945 when they moved to the Steen, Minn. area. They farmed there from 1945-1967, when they retired and moved to Luverne. Mr. Tilstra died November 18, 1988.

Survivors include five sons, Fred, John and Ferdinand, all of Luverne, Arvin of Steen and Cornelius of Grand Rapids, Mich., a daughter, Mrs. Don (Inez) Hoogeveen of Le Mars, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
