Funeral services were held at Central Reformed Church here at 1 P.M. Wednesday for Gerrit Wanningen, 64, long-time Sioux Center resident and former municipal power plant employee, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital early Sunday following lingering illness with cancer.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Marion Klaaren and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery with Co-operative Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

A brief service attended by members of the immediate family was held at the Little Chapel proceeding the service at the church.

Mr. Wanningen was born January 17, 1896. On December 6, 1924, he was married to Jacoba Berghuis. She passed away in 1926. Seven years later, on December 2, 1933, he was married to Mrs. Mary Arenda. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include two children, Floyd of Bellflower, California, and Florence (Mrs. Richard Gerritson of Rock Valley; four step-children, Mrs. Aldred Bruins, Arend Areson, both in California, Mrs. Richard Kroon of Lexington, Nebraska and Mrs. Elmer Lutjens of Hull; three granddaughters, Mona Lee and Denise Lynne Gerritson and Lyn Marie Wanningen.

Besides his wife, his parents, one sister, Mrs. Paul Van Dor and a grandson, Larry Wayne Gerritson, preceded him in death.

Mr. Wanningen was a long-time employee of the Iowa Public Service Company and later worked for several years at the Sioux Center Municipal power plant.
