Mr. Geurt Wanningen died at Midnight Tuesday at the state Hospital at Cherokee. He was 78 years old. Mr. Wanningen for a time has been mentally unbalanced and was taken to Cherokee on Christmas Day.

Geurt Wanningen was born in the Netherlands in 1860, at Negeloo Gen-Dwingelo and came to the United States in 1888. He married Jantje Frantzen on September 14, 1889. They lived on a farm near Sioux Center, and both resided in or near Sioux Center ever since. Two children were born to them, Jennie now deceased, and Gerrit, Jr. who has been making his home with his parents for the past several months. Surviving are his wife and his son, Gerrit Jr.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 o’clock from the home and at 1:30 at Central Reformed Church, Rev. Meengs officiating.
