Died July 31, 2001 Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Alan Jan Ten Haken, 60, Hull, died Tuesday, July 31 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were Thursday, August 2, at First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone and the Rev. Tony Vis officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Alan Ten Haken son of Willis and Ada Agnes (Brouwer) Ten Haken, was born Nov. 3, 1940 in Hull. He was raised in Hull and graduated from Hull High School. He married Arnetta Elaine Vis on Sept. 5, 1962, in Hull. They farmed near Hull. Later he was employed at Tri-State Implement. For the past 22 years, he owned and operated Seamless Gutters in Hull.

He was an active member of First Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as both elder and deacon, was chairman of the sound system, and participated in the shut-in ministry.

Survivors include his wife, Arnetta Ten Haken; three sons, David and Julie Ten Haken of Hull, Darwin and Michelle Ten Haken of West Des Moines, and Dayton and Crystal Ten Haken of Hull; a daughter, Dana and Dan Fedders of Hull; seven grandchildren; his mother, Ada Ten Haken of Hull; a brother, Harold Ten Haken of Rock Valley; and two sisters, Lois Visser of Albuquerque, N.M. and Linda Mulder of Carmel.

He was preceded in death by his father.
