Died: November 26, 2001 Hull, Iowa

Ada Agnes Ten Haken, 91, Hull, died Monday, Nov.26, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Services were Wednesday, Nov. 28, at First Reformed Church in Hull, with the Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Ada Ten Haken, daughter of Andrew and Alice (Van Berkum) Brouwer, was born July 31, 1910, near Doon, Iowa. She was raised at Doon. After graduating from high school and attending summer school, she was a country school teacher for five years.

She married Willis Ten Haken on March 22, 1933, in Doon. They farmed by Carmel 1942-1946. They farmed northwest of Hull 1946-1967. They moved into Hull in 1967, where she was a nurse's aide at Pleasant Acres for five years.

Mr. Ten Haken died June 12, 1986, in Rock Valley.

She moved to the Homestead in Hull in February of 1995. She transferred to Pleasnt Acres Care Center on June 15, 2001.

She was a member of First Reformed Churh, where she taught Sunday School and Catechism classes and participated in the Women's Guild. She also belonged to the Senior Citizens Group. They enjoyed traveling to California and New Mexico. She liked knitting, crocheting, baking, gardening, playing cards, watching television and reading. She looked forward to visits with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Harold and Mabel Ten Haken of Rock Valley; two daughters, Lois Visser of Albuquerque, N.M., Linda and Bernie Mulder of Carmel; a daughter-in-law, Arnetta Ten Haken of Hull; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Hilda Ten Haken and Fanny Ten Haken, both of Hull.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Ten Haken; a son, Alan Ten Haken, on July 31, 2001; a daughter-in-law, Verla; a grandson, Daniel Ten Haken; and two brothers, Fred Brouwer and William Brouwer.
