William H. Schoep, 73, of Sioux Center died Tuesday in the Sioux Center Hospital after a long illness.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (today) in the Carmel Reformed Church. The Rev. Virgil Dykstra will officiate. Burial will be in the Carmel Cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home at Sioux Center.

Mr. Schoep was born July 8, 1912 in Sioux Center and attended rural grade school west of Sioux Center. He married Bernice Grifhorst June 18, 1937 in Sioux Center. They farmed northwest of Sioux Center until 1973 when they retired and moved into town.

Mr. Schoep was a member of Carmel Reformed Church where he served many years on its consistory and was a Sunday School and catechism teacher.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Emilene Kruid of Madison, Neb., Mrs. Gerrit (Marilyn) Van Holland of Sioux Center and Mrs. Cornie (Phyllis) Schelling of Marcus; a son, William Dean of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two brothers Neal of Hospers and John of Maynard, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. Johanna Van Kley of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Wilhelmina Van Beek and Mrs. Louise Vander Schaaf, both of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Arden Vander Schaaf of Elgin, Ill; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
