Margaret Vander Mey, 86 of Artesia, California died December 10, 1999 in Artesia.

Margaret Vander Mey was born in Sioux Center December 20, 1912, She taught school in the rural Sioux Center area before moving to California after her marriage to John Vander Mey in 1937. They spent the remainder of their years in southern California.

Margaret worked for several years at the Long Beach School District as an account clerk. Her husband was also employed at Long Beach School as a grounds keeper. They retired the same day in 1973 and spent an active retirement traveling and visiting their many friends.

She is survived by her husband and three children, Don Vander Mey of Tracy, California, Judy Heuvelhorst of Novato, Calif. and Stan Vander Mey of Huntington Beach, California; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Margaret is survived by three sisters, Shanna Dlugi of Artesia, Wilma Bomgaars of Fullerton, Calif. and Dolly Kilgore of Santa Maria, California.
