Died February 19, 2000 Artesia, CaliforniaJohn Vander Mey, 91, of Artesia California, died February 19.
John was a former resident of Sioux Center along with his wife Margaret. They had lived in Southern California since their marriage in 1937. His last years were spent at the Artesia Christian Home.John was born in the Netherlands On May 4, 1908. He finished his working career at the Long Beach School District as a grounds keeper. They retired on the same day in 1973 and spent an active retirement traveling and visiting with many friends.
He is survived by their children, Don Vander Mey of Tracy, California; Judy Heuvelhorst of Novato, California; and Stan Vander Mey of Huntington Beach, California; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
John is survived by a brother Dick Vander Mey at Artesia Christian Home, and a sister, Sue Watts of Bellflower, California.
