Henry M. Scholten was born on a farm near Alton on December 30, 1883 and died January 23, at the age of 67 years and 24 days.

He was married to Minnie De Boer on March 13, 1912. They lived on a farm south of Boyden until 1939 when they moved to their present home.

He received his education in the Alton Public school and graduated from Iowa State college at Ames.

He is survived by his wife. There were no children but a niece, Mrs. Alfred Doorenbos of Boyden made her home with them since the age of four. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Jake Cambier of Alton, and three brothers. Evert of Sheldon; Dr. Dick of Kalamazoo, Mich.; Bert of Holland, Mich.

Two sisters preceded him in death.

He was a sincere Christian and a faithful worker in the church. He was an elder in the United Presbyterian Church of Boyden, having been elected to that office on Jan. 14, 1926, and was serving in that capacity at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Sat. January 27 in the United Presbyterian church, Boyden with Rev. Henry Baak officiating. Interment was is the Boyden cemetery. Pallbearers were: Phillip Van Gorp, Wallace Zwagerman. Homer De Boer, Chester De Boer, Clifford Moss and August Smit.
