Maurice (Special)- Mrs. Peter Niemantsverdriet passed away at her home Friday afternoon as a result of a fall which occurred on the stair steps early that morning. She had been suffering from high blood pressure for several months and it is believed that a stroke resulted from the fall, which caused her immediate death.
Hattie Koster, was born in the Netherlands, January 18, 1861. She came to the United States with her parents when she was six years old and was raised with her parents on a farm near Sioux Center. She was united in marriage with Peter Niemantsverdriet in 1880, and lived with her husband on a farm near Maurice until 1908, when they retired from the farm and moved to the home in town where she has lived continuously.
She is survived by two children, Mrs. Anna Kooi of Orange City and Henry who made his home with his mother, one grandchild, Mrs. Rev. Nyhof of Platte, S.D. and three great grandchildren. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. P. Mouw of Orange City and Mrs. H. Kiel of Sioux Center.
Her husband preceded her in death in April 1938.
Mrs. Niemanstverdriet was a charter member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice, and has always been a zealous christian woman.
Funeral services were conducted from the home at 1:30 p.m. and from the First Reformed Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, with Rev. J. Vander Schaaf of Alton conducting the service. Burial was made beside her husband in the Orange City cemetery.
