Cornelius “Neal” Mol, 82, of Sioux Center, died Friday, October 18, at the Pella Regional Health Center Long Term Care Facility in Pella.

Funeral service was Tuesday, October 22, at 10 A.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Arnold Punt officiating. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Mol was born September 20, 1920, at Sioux Center, the son of Clarence and Gertrude (Proper) Mol. He was raised at Sioux Center and served in the United States Navy during World War II. On September 17, 1947, he married Grace Sebianne Van Peursem at Orange City. They made their home in Sioux Center. She died February 20, 1990, in Sioux City. Later, he made his home in Orange City for two years. Four years ago, he moved to Pella. In Sioux Center, he was a delivery man for the Coop Gas and Oil for three years and then was employed by Vander Ploeg Furniture and Funeral Home for 20 years. He also owned a ServiceMaster franchise where he cleaned carpet, and later he was an independent carpet installer. In semi-retirement, he was a courier for Area Education Agency IV for 12 years.

He was a member of First Reformed Church, where he had served as an elder on the consistory for several terms and participated in the Men’s Brotherhood. He also served on the board of directors of the Sioux Center Christian School and was a member of the Doornink-Brunsting American Legion Post in Sioux Center. He enjoyed fishing and biking, as well as reading, especially to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his four children and their spouses, Clifford and Connie Mol of Huntington, West Virginia, Wanda and Dean Ulmer, of Leighton, Sharon and Jim Smits of Orange City and Verlyn and Barb Mol of Brunswick, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a great-grandson; three sisters, Katherine Medema of Berwyn, Illinois, Elberta and her husband Henry Swaagman of Friesland, Wisconsin, and Angeline and her husband Marion Boersma of Gresham, Oregon; and a brother and his wife, Peter and Bertha Mol of Sioux Center.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Francis Medema.
