Mr. Boeyink’s unexpected passing occurred about 8 P.M. Monday during a public hearing on the proposed Sioux Center street improvement program. He had asked two or three questions from the floor regarding who sets property valuation in Sioux Center and collapsed into the isle of the hall immediately upon receiving the answer to his question. The meeting was adjourned shortly thereafter, after Dr. A.L. McGilvra, who immediately went to the afflicted man’s side, found that he had passed on. An ambulance had been summoned to the hall following his collapse.

He taught Sunday school here for nearly 40 years and served as an elder and deacon in the First Reformed Church and as an elder in Central Church. He also served as first treasurer of the Sioux Center Community cemetery association. Mr. Boeyink remained active in community work until the end and retained his interest in education and Iowa politics.
