Died: September 25, 2001Mary Carola Bohr, 88, of Alton, died Tuesday, September 25, 2001, at the Orange City Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 28 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Rev. James Tigges officiated. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Alton under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home, Remsen.
Mary was born November 9, 1912, at rural Alton, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Noethe) Wolf. She was raised and educated in the Alton area. She married Fred Bohr and they made their home near Alton where they were engaged in farming. Mr. Bohr died November 23, 1963. Mary continued to live on the farm and moved into Alton in the late 1960s. She had been a resident of the Paullina Care Center since 1999.
Mrs. Bohr was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Church Guild and St. Mary’s Rosary Society.
Survivors include two sons, William and his wife Belva of Cedar Falls and Joseph of Alton; a daughter-in-law, Alice and her husband Larry Bloemendaal of Alton; a grandson, Scott Bohr and a granddaughter, Virginia Bohr, both of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Henry; and a brother, Norbert Wolf.
