John David Warren, 69, Sioux Center, died Saturday morning, June 15, at Oak Park Care Center in Sheldon.

Services were Tuesday, June 18, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with
Preston Moerman officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

John Warren, son of Oscar and Elsie (Klinepier) Warren, was born March 16, 1933, in Muskegon, Mi. He was a 1951 graduate of Bunker High School in Muskegon. He went on to receive a bachelor of arts degree from Hope College in Holland, MI.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1955 and served a two-year tour of duty in France. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Michigan, where he began working for the Michigan “Department of Transportation. He lived in several communities in Michigan during his first years with the department. He married Gloria Jean Kramer on October 21, 1972, in Ireton. He continued his career with the Michigan Department of Transportation while they resided in Saginaw, MI., and Grand Rapids, MI. After 31 years with the department of transportation, he retired and moved his family to Sioux Center to be near his wife’s family.

Throughout his life he was active member of Christian Reformed Churches. He served as a deacon while living in Saginaw and Grand Rapids, and as a member of Covenant Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He was currently a member of Bridge of Hope, an affiliate of Covenant. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching birds the past six years while he was ill with a rare neurological disease.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Warren of Sioux Center; three daughters, Kim and Kevin Karhoff of Sheldon, Kristi and Curt Von Hagel of Sioux City, and Kelli Warren of Sioux Center; six granddaughters; a sister, Alice and Dale Maxam of Spring Lake, MI; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arie and Tena Kramer of Ireton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Allan and Carol Kramer of Orange City, Eldon and Marcia Westra of Sioux Center, Lyle and Loretta Meyers of Ireton, Norman and Glenda Kramer of Hawarden, Jim and Carol Yacko of Des Moines, and Dave and Dorene Vander Zwaag of Sioux Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elsie Warren.
