Last Rites Held For James Vander Poel
Funeral services were held Wednesday (yesterday) at 1:30 p.m. for James Vander Poel, 83. of Rock Valley, in the Pioneer United Methodist church, with the Rev. William Ballard officiating.. Mrs. Pier Wynia, organist accompanied soloists, Mrs. Henry Vanden Oever and Mrs. W.C. Anderson. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery under the direction of me Porter- Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jake Ver Mulm, Glen Benson, Walter Warntjes, Clifton Moore, Judson Smith and Donald Klein.

Mr. Vander Poel died in the Hegg Memorial hospital following a short illness. James Vander Poel was born August 7, 1885 in Orange City. He married Mable Griffin in 1914 in Rock Rapids. He was an insurance agent in Rock Valley before retiring.

Survivors are his widow; one daughter. Mrs. Alvin Miller of Rock Valley; one sister. Mrs. John Dodeward of Rock Valley and 2 grandchildren.
