Died: May 28, 1989 Sioux Falls, South DakotaAdrian Harry Scholten, 72, of Sioux Center died Sunday, May 28, in a hospital in Sioux Falls.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with the Rev. Harold Lenters officiating. Burial is in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Scholten was born July 2 1916, at Boyden. He attended Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School in Hull. He worked on farms in several states as well as on the railroad and at a service station.
He served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He then was employed in the construction business until his retirement in 1982. He married Margaret Viola Vermeer May 10, 1957. The couple made their home in Sioux Center. She died November 29, 1982.
He was a member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center and American Legion Post 199.
Survivors include a daughter, Shawn Ranae Scholten of Pierre, S.D.; a son, Clark Adrian Scholten of Rochester, Minnesota; seven sisters, Jen Berkenpas of Sioux Center, Pauline Bliek of Rock Valley, Cornelia Berkenpas of West Branch, Martha Zandstra and Arta Collins, both of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Arlyna Vande Griend of Hull and Marie Sneller of Doon; and a brother, Morris of Portland, Oregon.
