Argene Lee Scholten, 28, of Hardwick, Mn., died from exposure after being stranded in a blizzard that occurred the weekend of February 4.
Scholten was born March 21, 1955 to Faner and Pauline (Larson) Scholten at Sioux Center. The family lived in the Rock Valley and Rock Rapids area and in 1963 moved to a farm east of Hatfiled, Minn. Argene attended Edgerton Public School and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1973. He was presently employed by I.B.P. Company at Luverne.
Survivors include his mother, Pauline Scholten of Hatfield, Mn.; two sisters, Bonnie Scholten of Madison, Wisc., and Mrs. Dean (Deborah) Kruger of Luverne, Mn.; one brother, Clifford of Hardwich, Mn., grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Scholten of Rock Valley and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Larson of Canton, S.D.; one nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.
Services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Edgerton, Mn., on Thursday Feb. 9 with Rev. David Feltman officiating. Organist was Mrs. Glen DeBerg with soloist Mrs. Jim Vander Beek.
Pallbearers were Bob Peschon, Todd Kruer, Bob Hellwinkel, Jeff Hunter, David Karlson and Eric Crow.
Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton, Mn.
