Died: June 17, 1998 Carroll, IowaRobert Glenn Schouten, 50, of Carroll, formerly of Rock Valley, died Wednesday June 17, at his residence.
Services were at Twitt Funeral Home in Carroll on June 25, with the Rev. David Clark of First United Methodist Church in Carroll officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.
Schouten was born July 11, 1947, in Rock Valley, the son of Elmer J. and Grace M. (Mulder) Schouten. He received his bachelor of science degree in physics and his master of school mathematics degree from Iowa State University.
He married Karen Reiff on June 8, 1968 in Mount Carmel.
He was employed as an instructor of mathematics at Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll. He previously taught math at Glidden High School, St. Bernard's in Breda and Wilson Junior High in Des Moines. He was currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree at Iowa State University.
He served on the planning and zoning board in Carroll.
Survivors include a son and wife, Glenn and Kelly of Topeka, Kansas; a daughter and husband, Susan and Dave Bailey of Rochester, Minnesota; his mother, Grace Schouten of Sioux City; two brothers, Bill of Ashland, Wisconsin, and Dave and his wife Pat, of Estherville; a brother-in-law, Nick Kamminga of Dover, Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister Joan Kamminga.
