Lebanon, OR - LuVerne "Rusty" Romain Vanderham, 84, Albany, OR, formerly of Orange City, died Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Mennonite Home in Albany.

Services were Thursday, Feb. 7, in Lebanon, OR.

Rusty Vanderham, son of Martin & Minnie (Fisher) Vanderham, was born Dec. 24, 1923 in Akron. He was raised in Iowa and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Ruth Hofmeyer in February 1950. They resided in California, where he was a school custodian. They later returned to Iowa and settled near Carnes, where they formed a country western band that performed at area care centers and dances. They enjoyed wintering at Fountain of Youth Spa in California. Mrs. Vanderham died Nov. 23, 1999, in Orange City. He continued to visit the spa, where he would get together with Vivian Nofziger. They had all been friends when Ruth was living, and Ruth asked Vivian to look after Rusty after her death. Rusty & Vivian were married in July 2001. They traveled between California, Oregon and Iowa, and finally decided to make their home in Hillsboro, OR. They moved to Mennonite Village in 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Vanderham of Albany, OR; a daughter, Judy & Rick Lamborn; a son, Jerry & Liz Vanderham; three grandchildren, four stepchildren, Donald & Faye Nofziger, Donna & Bob Winchester; Linda & Alan Heines, and Joyce & Charles Cleveland; numerous step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Wanda Hofmeyer of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Vanderham.
