Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Ireton for Herman L. Vander Hamm, 91, who passed away Sunday at the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars following a stroke.

Rev. Frank Hill officiated and burial was made in the church cemetery under the direction of Satterlee Funeral Home.

Pall bearers were Henry Ramhorst, Marlin Eilts, Lloyd Simons, Edward Kading, Sidney Eisma and Delbert Van Skike.

Mr. Vander Hamm was born September 4, 1867 at Monticello, Iowa. He came to the Ireton community at the age of three and had made his home there ever since. He was married to Elisa Toenjes on December 17, 1889, and to this union five children were born. Mr. Vander Hamm spent his entire life on the farm, residing with his son, Fred, for the last several years.

Surviving are two sons, Emil of Sioux City and Fred of Ireton, three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, three children and six brothers.

Mr. Vander Hamm was a member of St. John's Lutheran church and held several township offices during his lifetime.
