Sioux Center News, February 3, 1988

Herman D. Vanderham, 78, of Hawarden died Friday, January 29, at his residence.

Services were at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday at Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden with the Rev. Paul Hansen officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.

Vanderham was born December 2, 1909 in North Dakota and was raised in the Akron area. He farmed and also was a truck driver. He married Bernice Franklin, October 3, 1974. The couple moved to Hawarden in 1975.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Akron American Legion Post.

Survivors include his wife; six sisters, Katie Kaelke of Belgrade, Minnesota; Minnie Haage of Hawarden, Mary Place of Snohomish, Washington; Lena Weyen of Chatsworth; Anna Hebner of Akron and Rosie Hebner of Beresford, South Dakota; a brother, Bill of Sioux City, three stepsons; and two stepdaughters.
