Funeral services were November 2 at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, with the Rev. Dan Brouwer officiating. Internment was in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids under the direction of the Roste Funeral Home.
Hermina (Buyert) Van Der Stoep was born on May 29, 1931, at Sioux Center, the daughter of Nick and Hermina (Kempers) Buyert. She grew up in the Sioux Center area, attended Sioux Center Christian School and Western Christian High. After high school she attended Northwestern College and Westmar College where she received her teaching certificate. Following her education she taught country school and also at Sioux Center Christian School.
On June 2, 1954, she was married to Herbert J. Van Der Stoep at Sioux Center. They farmed in the Rock Valley, Carmel, and Orange City areas before moving to Rock Rapids 26 years ago.
She died on October 30 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital at the age of 58.
Surviving her are her husband Hubert of Rock Rapids; children, Debra Lynn Diener of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, and Donley Vander Stoep of Pamona, California; two grandchildren, Donella Lynn and David Lee Van Der Stoep; three sister, Lubertha Buyert and Lillian Klarenbeek, both of Sioux Center, and Gertrude Intveld of Rock Rapids; and three brothers, Barney John and Arthur Buyert, both of Sioux Center, and John James Buyert of Minnetonka, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son, David Lee, and and infant sister, Dena.
