Died: 10-31-1983

Mr. Nick Wielenga, 87, of Orange City, passed away Monday, Oct. 31 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m., at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Cecil Martens and Rev. Frank Snuttjer will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home.

Mr. Wielenga was born Feb. 25, 1896 at Orange City, the son of Jacob Wielenga and Volkea Peters. He served in the armed forces during World War I.

On July 9, 1923, he married Jacoba Van Oort at Orange City. They farmed in the Orange City area until the early 1950's when they moved into town, where Nick sold feed and seed for about 15 years. On April 21, 1979, they became residents of the Heritage House in Orange City.

Mr. Wielenga was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Mrs. George. (Kathleen) De Vries, Jr., of Orange City; two sons, Jack of Cedar Falls and Jan of Stockton, Calif.; six grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and a sister, Mrs. Gary (Jacoba) Reinders of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by one grandson and three brothers, Peter, Okko, and Lou J.
