Edward J. Wielenga, 68, of Orange City, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 16, shortly after arrival at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Edward John was born May 1, 1920, at Orange City, the son of Peter L. Wielenga and Gertrude Roghair Wielenga. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

On Feb. 11, 1948, he married Wilmina Wynia at Sioux Center. They farmed at Orange City, retiring into town in 1980.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City where he served on the consistory as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife; children, Marlin and Peggy of Littleton, Colo., Elaine and Ben Van Engen of Orange City, Carl of Sioux City, and Roger and Lisa of Maurice; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Louis P. and Marion, both of Orange City; and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Hendrine) Van Gorp, Mrs. Syne (Esther) Wynia and Mrs. Martin (Geraldine) De Jong, all of Orange City.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 19 at the First Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Ralph A. Pontier officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
