Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church in Maurice at 1:30pm Monday, January 17, for John Vander Stelt, Sr., 75, well known owner of John's Upholstery Shop of Maurice, who died at the Orange City hospital January 13.

Services were conducted by the rev. Gary Van Koevering and burial was made in Sherman Township cemetery with the Cooperative Funeral Home of Sioux Center in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vander Stelt was born in the Netherlands September 29, 1896, and came to the U.S. as a young man. He married Cornelia Van Donkelaars at Orange City January 14, 1925.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Cornelius of Sioux Center, Gerrit of Brooten, Minn., John Jr. of Maurice; three daughters, Mrs. Gerrit (Johanna) Hiekema of Sibley, Mrs. Duane (Dorothy) Van Der Weide and Mrs. Rodney (Betty Lou) Van Der Weide, both of Maurice; three brothers, six sisters, 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
